´╗┐Silbermond is a German rock band from Bautzen. The band originally formed in 1998 under the name Jast, which comes from the first letters of the band members' names (Johannes, Andreas, Stefanie, Thomas). In 2001, they changed their name to Silbermond ("Silver moon"). As opening act for Jeanette Biedermann, they became increasingly popular in Germany and Austria. They released their first album "Verschwende deine Zeit" ("Waste your time") in 2004.

In late 2004 they went on tour, publishing their first concert DVD "Verschwende Deine Zeit - Live" in April 2005, which reached gold status.

On July 2, 2005 they were part of the Live-8 concerts in Berlin.

Silbermond have a global music publishing deal with BMG Music Publishing.

On April 21, 2006, the band released their second album, "Laut gedacht", from which "Unendlich" and later, on July 7, 2006, their second single "Meer sein" were released.
