Biography

Bobby Shmurda is an up-and-coming rapper from 95th and Clarkson , East Flatbush, Booklyn, New York. His family is from down South where his father is currently locked up in prison. He's well known for popularizing the 'Shmoney Dance' in his video for 'Hot N*ga'. He is a member of the rap group GS9, which consists of several other rappers from NY such as Rowdy Rebbel. Bobby Shmurda is also affiliated with the G-Stone Grimey Savage 90's aka Gun Squad, a set of the Crips gang in New York.
Bobby Shmurda’s family is from the south, after his father was locked up in prison, his mother decided to move out of the south and relocate to New York. His grandparents, as well as other family members still live in the South which is the reason he tend to travel back and forth between New York and Florida. Bobby had his own brushes with the law, he spent 15 months in detention for violating his probation; he also caught a gun charge, but the charge was later dropped.
Bobby Shmurda started rapping in 2004; his first remixed song was ‘Knuck If You Buck’ by rap group Crime Mob. While growing up, he was a big fan of 50 Cent, Jay Z, 2Pac, Biggie, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Trick Daddy.

Soon after the video was released, numerous hip hop critics and bloggers claimed that Bobby Shmurda would be the next big thing out of NY, and rappers such as Meek Mill brought him out to perform with them. Bobby Shmurda's Hot Nigga song is often classified as drill music, though there are some similarities in the video and lyrics, the Hot Nigga instrumental is actually from Lloyd Banks' Jackpot song.
