Scion has begin collecting entries for it's annual “Free Up Your Mix” Contest as of August 1st.
Scion’s "Free Up Your Mix" DJ Contest is in full force as of August 1, 2004 and mixtape entries are being accepted as of August 1 thru October 31, 2004.
In order to be considered, entrants must be 21 years of age or older, live in the U.S. (excluding Hawaii and Puerto Rico), and submit a LIVE mix (30 minutes or less), made using only turntables and a mixer.
Stakes is high on this Hip-Hop Mixtape Competition.
12 Runner ups will get:
- Play at a Scion Metro (www.scion.com/mtro) with an all-star DJ (past parties have featured Jazzy Jeff, Premier, and Tony Touch)
- Receive a packed gift bag
1 Grand Prize winner will:

HOT DAMN PLAYA’S HERE I GO AGAIN! Ya boy is back! I’m up in this piece and I cease to lease until I’m 6 feet deep. I did a Harry Houdini and disappeared for a month, now I’m back yall. Man, do I have a story to tell. A brotha’ took a month vacation and took the fam back to my hood of the East coast, I also did a Midwest swang and jumped off on the Windsor Canada side. It was a wild ride baby!
I kicked it off in my home piece of Dayton, O-H-to tha dime. Hip-hop is swingin’ hard and heavy in tha Day-Day. Big up to cats running thangs down there. Graveyard shout goes out to B.L.O. (Blood Line Organization) and D.J. Skno, just to name a couple. I spit in heads ears about that urban life and the hip-hop nation is hyped. Big thangs moving outta Tha DAY, so watch ya back!
I then took it to Detroit, Michigan for my family reunion. Detroit heads are off tha chain. Hip-hop is really spinning like a set of Sprewells there. Hell naw, I didn’t bump into Slim-a-neim or D 12 either. I can say I did travel down the 8 mile road though. The streets down in the Motor City is a t-r-ip. Some of the streets are named after numbers, like; 8 mile, 9 mile, 10 mile and so on. I Kicked it at this one club on the 12 mile road with some fam and it was off the chain. The dee jay was wick, wick, whack and could’nt get the party started,but the D-town shorties are on tilt! Damn they make ya wanna holla! Booty everywhere. It was called the Kat Klub. One thing about the 12 mile road, its a hot spot like the Vegas strip where they have all type of clubs in one row. Its hard to decide which jump off you wanna go too! I left my Urban Empire mark there as well dogg! I can go on and on about my month vacation,but “I aint!” Besides blazing trees and turning from Bruce Banner into the Incredible Hulk with that Hypneezle and eating at my favorite hangouts that I can’t get out here,like White Castle, it was smooth as silk!
Big up up to the South Psycho Side cats. Keep doing ya thing kids. Big thangs coming outta that camp this year. Also,what up B-Stone and those Grimme Records heads. I was bumping ya joint last night at my crib and I’m still feeling that sampler you slid my way! Big up to that kid D.J. Tricky T on the release of Darkcyde Volume 10 “Exodus”. Its tighter than a kung-fu grip. Oh, before I get ghost, Run Tell That Productions presents live in concert: Sly Booge on September 3,2004 inside The Blue Haven Night Club. Thats Labor Day weekend.
