There have been approxiametly 2662 total chart weeks! There have been 969 different #1's so (2662/969=2.7) there is on average a new number one every 2.7 weeks. There are 31 new number ones to go before we get our 1000th number one so if we time the average of time taken to get a new number one by the number of #1's left to get to the 100th number one then we do 2.7x31=83.7, therefore in about 84 weeks we should get our 1000th #1 and that should be about 4th September 2005.

Make Sense?

I'm not convinced myself, i think it will be sooner than that!

Sales figures are usually not released until Monday morning. If I see any tomorrow i'll post them asap. Will be interesting to see Michelle's sales.

Cool calculation - if you have a look at the 80s, a lot of acts stayed at #1 for 4 weeks plus - well into the 90s infact. I reckon that it'll be sometime within the next year - maybe 60 weeks max.
