I don't really understand that...How about Singapore,Malaysia or Asia Top 40? Is it too small for a chart in top-40charts.com?

Hi...
I've made a similar question in the previous topic ...
In that case I've asked why Italy (that is a big country) have only a top20 while other countries like Sweden (that are smaller, for population) have a top40.
They have replyed me telling that Even if in Italy there are 60millions of people the sales of singles are similar to smaller markets like New Zealand or Holland.
I think that this is not a valid reply because these countries here have a top 40... and not a top20 like Italy...

New Charts from Asia

In Asia I think is different... there are only few official charts...and usually are album charts not singles charts.
The same problem is in Central & South America and in some East European country...

The only country with an official sales charts in Asia are:
Japan
Taiwan
Singapore

for the other countries there are not official charts...
In fact I don't know on what data are based the Indian and the Chinese charts... or the new charts added from Russia and Ukraine... especially for the last one...

On Internet I've found some charts from Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia and very few from Philippines and Sri Lanka...but these are only ariplay charts and not official sales charts...

I think that probably the only charts from Asia that could be added could be the one from Singapore, that is an official chart and is not yet here.

New Charts from Europe

In Europe is different...

IFPI publish other official charts not yet reported here:
Hungary
Slovakia
Czech Rep.

for the other countries there is not yet an official chart.

New Charts from Central & South America

In this area there is a big chaos with the charts...
The only official charts are from Argentina and Brazil.
Than there are other charts... half-official like the charts from Mexico (here not published) and the one from Chile.
There are also few other unofficial charts from Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela and Bolivia... but they are not official so not good for this site...

There are some charts also from the Caribbean... like Curaçao, Cayman, Aruba... but these territories are very small and I think that probably can't be considered interesting markets.

New Charts from Middle East

From this area there are very very few charts... The problem is mainly in the alphabeth used in these countries... I think it's difficult to translate it in Occidental letters...

Till now I only know about charts from Isarael and Turkey... I've also seen on internet other charts from Lebanon, Giordania and United Arab Emirates... but they have nothing of official...

New Charts from Africa

The only country in Africa with charts is South Africa. (only Airplay)
There other charts from Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt and Ghana... but all not official.

New Charts from Oceania

the only official charts are from Australia & New Zealand (already publish here)

...

so my suggestions to the administration are:

#1 to add official charts made by IFPI like:
Singapore
Hungary
Slovakia
Czech Rep.

#2 to add other airplay charts (as they have done with India, China, Chile, Russia, Ukraine) for countries like:
Peru
Mexico
Colombia
Bolivia
Venezuela
South Africa
Turkey

#3 to add 40 positions to these charts that now have only 20 positions:
Switzerland
Italy
Belgium
Greece
Ireland
Brazil
Chile

for other countries like Spain, Norway and Finland I know that there is only the official top20 so it will be impossible to have the top40... but for the other countrires there is the official top40

Great idea for the Asia top40! Webmasters/Admins, what do you say?

- #1_candy: yes, Asia isn't small! But the problem for the people who are helping us with the data is to found reliable sources (retailers) to establish the charts. We can't guarantee you when (time), but within 2005/06 you are going to find an 'Asian Chart' which will cover the whole area - and other 'country charts'.

- Kate: So, you can find the charts from other countries after the 2005 :-) but yes, you will find them on top40 Charts.

- NightyGeko.it: maybe you didn't find my response 'valid' but this is a specific way to have a reliable result on the Top100.

Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, South Africa, Turkey

I know you 'll want to be more specific, but I can't! :-) I mean that we are having plans to add Mexico (the chart data/sources are almost prepared) and Turkey in the near future. For the Arabic region our main problem is still the 'character coding'. For the Asian region, you read it above.
In any case we preffer not having 'airplay' charts from any coutnry if there aren't at least 10-15 different sources, because then we haven't an original chart, but every 'administrator's' opinion (which is subjective)! :p

I think that is a valid reply to say that even if in Italy there are 60millions of people the sales are too low...like in smaller countires like Holland and New Zealand. So for this reason I could say ok...it's a valid reply...

But then if I see that these countries that have the same sales (singles) than Italy have a top40 ... I think that the reply is no more valid... simply because Italy - NZ - and Holland have the same sales in singles... but only Italy a top 20...

This is what I've tried to tell you before...

for the other things... as I've told you before this is a great site... the best about music... with or without a top 40 for Italy...

links to other charts...not yet published here...

OFFICIAL NATIONAL CHARTS

Here there are some helpful links to official charts not yet published here:

Czech Republic : http://www.ifpicr.cz/ (Official chart - top40)
Hungary: http://www.mahasz.hu/m/indexe.php (Official chart - top 40)
Costa Rica: http://www.los40.co.cr/lalista.asp (Official chart - top20)
Colombia: http://los40.com.co/lalista.asp (Official chart - top 40)

Uruguay: http://www.rankingtop40.com/uy/
(this chart is presented as an Airplay chart of 40 radio stations from Uruguay - on the site there is also the map that shows where are the 40 radio stations - so I think that it could be considered ad an official chart)

OTHER NOT OFFICIAL CHARTS

Israel: http://www.israel-chart.com/charts/2004/m1.asp
(I don't know if this chart is official or not... but the chart is presented as the official Israeli chart)

Peru - Mexico - Bolivia: http://www.radiodifusion.com/~top100hits/english/index.htm
(these charts too are presented as National charts)

Singapore: http://perfect10.mediacorpradio.com/Top20.htm
(the most important airplay chart of the country)

Estonia: http://eestiraadio.cma.ee/r2/index.php?lang=est&main_id=45&PHPSESSID=49c2cbd9b02bc22141d5042826930f2a
(a boy from Estonia have told me that this is the official chart... I don't understand Estonian language so I don't know if it's true)

First of all NightyGeko.it, let me say happy birthday! :) (according to the 'birthdays calendar on the vBulletin Forum)
Second: all your recomendations are welcoming. But we need time to establish new charts, things, procedures etc (especially the design of the SQL DB/ Charts). You are going to see/add new charts until the end of 2004, but these will cover 'Genres'.
In 2005, the countries and Regions (like Asia), or what else you want. Discuss it!

Thank U Paris! ^.^
Yes I immagine that you need a lot of time to start new charts... all the data...the weeks in chat... the peack position...the links...
I perfectly understand.

Only another question...
Why the chart from Ukraine is not updated after it's first week?

best regards Andrea (NightyGeko.it) ^.^

Only another question...
Why the chart from Ukraine is not updated after it's first week?
Because our SQL DB doesn't want! :D
In political terms, 'there are difficulties'... ;)
The truth: there is a significant error and MarkG tries to fix it. When this is solved you'll see all the 'weeks' updated (I hope...)
