I'd suggest that you restrained from making money with dodgy pop-up first of all NT search which causes a script error in the web browser to download

DIALERS and

180solutions

WITH OUT ANY WARNING or consent

I got rid of the freexxx dialer thanks to adaware but this annoying 180ax.exe file and its affiliates are still present. I only access your site from work and if it's happening again I make sure that your site gets BLACKLISTED !!!

I adore this forums and some of your contents make interesting reading but I`m not willing to take any risks just to browse your pages..

I'm sure there has to be other vicitims being infected by those files/programs mentioned DUE to some vicious pop ups of yours

Hi celles,

first of all, i'd like to clarify that we do not sell advertising space to any company directly. We sell our space to agencies and dont have direct control over which exactly ad is shown.

Our only weapon in this matter is to contact the agency about the problem and if nothing is done about it, to stop using them (something that we have done several times in the past)

On to the issue, please provide us (either here or via mail at www@top40-charts.com) with any evidence (screenshots, url's of the popup, referring url) of the popup so that we can identify the agency behind the ad and see what we can do about it

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for your kind reply !
The only thing I can remember was that it has something to do with a site called "NT search" then a script error message window was displayed and sth I couldn't stop started downloading. I managed to turn off my modem in time the last time around. Now being once bitten twice shy I only visit your website when having some break at work.

The malicious site installed
a) a troj
b) 180ax.exe (180solutions.com)
c) xxxfree**** (a dialer)

It installed some 50 malicious files in total so it took me some time to get rid of the most annoying and dangerous ones...

it also hijacked my webbrowser and inserted some blacklisted sites like blazedfind my internet-info cashpopup (something like that)

I didn't make any screenshots as all this went too fast and I was reallz disheartened that I had to deal with all those annoying site due a pop up on your page.

best regards
Celles

I've had the same problem... a lot of pop-up and one of these with a virus...
fortunatly the toolbar that I've installed to stop the pop-up stops the 70% of them...for the others there is the controll of Norton but it is very common that Norton advise me that in that pop-up there are virus (NT pop-up)
A friend of mine have taken a virus on her computer entering on top40... I think for the same pop-up

Its not the only dodgy pop up on top40.com I can assure you.
Some of them offer you downloads to "fully update your browser"
I'd never ever access this page from my own computer since I'm still running scared about programmes installing themselves..

Your absolutely right, I got some troj due to those top40.com pop-ups

We have stopped popups from on of the agencies we sell our space as an experiment to see if they are the source

Let us know (with as many details as possible) if you get anything.
