Does anyone know what Sarah McLachlan's first #1 hit was? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere....too many conflicting results from the searches I've tried......Thanks!

The single "Building a Mystery" catapulted the album 'Surfacing,' at No. 2 in the US, while reaching No. 1 in Canada. She was benefiting from the incredible success that Lilith generated, which allowed her to sell 3 million copies in the US alone. A stop at the Grammies won her two awards: Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Building a Mystery" and Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "Last Dance", both from Surfacing.

the song "building a mystery" , and album "Surfacing" by Sarah Mclachlan may have been the first time that she was officially recognized in the U.S, but trust me, she's been playing on Canadian air ways for years before that!!..some of her best songs from the early 90's are "hold on" and "possession"...go ahead and treat yourself to some of that ear candy...she rocks!:)
