Analysis

Delta the record breaker: Delta has set a whopping four personal chart records this week. Firstly, she is the only act in the 5 and a half years since the chart began where an artist has scored 3 consecutive No.1’s. Following Out of the blue and Mistaken Identity, Delta flies to the top with Extraordinary Day. This takes her to her 2nd record, most No.1’s by one artist-she breaks the previous record of 7 held by The Corrs, with her 8th No.1 this week. Her third record is most songs from one album inside the top 20. 13 out of the 14 tracks off Mistaken Identity are in this week’s top 20 with only Miscommunication failing to make the cut. This is also a record number of songs in the chart by one artist simultaneously!!!

Back to the chart analysis…There are two new entries and two re-entries in the top 20 with the highest new entry going to Almost here the new duet from Delta and Brian McFadden. Inside the top 10, Delta’s Out of the blue and Mistaken Identity fall to allow four other Delta songs to rise one place each respectively with the new No.1 going to Extraordinary Day by Delta. In the top 20 last week, but new to the top 10 are Band Aid 20 at No.4, Slinky Minx at No.8 and Delta at No.9. In the albums the sole new entry is Christmas Hits at No.3 while the remainder of the top 5 stay in the same place as Hits 60 falls to No.7. So Delta gets a second week at the top!!!
