I just checked the american top 40 singles chart and I was surprised to find Daddy Yankee with his song Gasolina. Is it really that popular?
Good for him, anyway!

In Latin America it is very popular, especially in countries from Central America and the North of South America (Peru, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Bolivia, etc)

I know, but I was wondering if he was popular in the US, since his song is/was on that chart :)

Reggaeton singers like Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, Zion y Lennox, etc are very popular in the United States, but they have major markets, those are United States, Colombia, Venezuela and obviously Puerto Rico, where these singers come from. In Puerto Rico, "Barrio Fino" by Daddy Yankee sold over 500.000 copies and in the states too. "The Last Don" by Don Omar did very well, with more than 250.000 copies sold only in Puerto Rico, and knowing that our country has only 3,9 million people. Now Reggaeton singers are very popular in Colombia, Venezuela, Spain and in the States. But their BIG MARKET is still Puerto Rico and it will always be.
