Here is the place to talk about past number 1s - and predict the future number 1s.
I'm gonna start the ball rolling, from the current singles release schedule, I'd say there are future number 1s for:
04-Jan-04 to 10-Jan-04 - Victoria Beckham - This Groove / Let Your Head Go - 1 week
11-Jan-04 to 28-Feb-04 - Michelle - All This Time - 7 weeks
There's not a great deal out for that time, although Busted are releasing, I'm predicting it'll be off the top for Michelle by the time Westlife release.

I hope Michelle is not number 1 for 7 weeks! i doubt it will be, the song is not that great and i'm guessing that most people that are going to buy it will go in the first week, as with will young's first release? maybe. so i predeict 2-3 weeks for her. as sales are very slow, songs that normally would never be number 1 have more of a chance in january.

To DSQ, I also don't think Michelle McManus will stay at no. 1 for 7 weeks. Everyone thought Alex Parks would be no. 1 for a month with 'Maybe That's What It Takes' but ended up reaching no. 3.
To Michael188, I agree that 'All This Time' is more likely to stay no. 1 for three, maybe four weeks. But you never know...
To XxsuziexX, I also don't think Victoria Beckham will hit no. 1 (perhaps no. 2 or 3) because I think S Club 8 (don't laugh) could hit no. 1 with 'Don't Tell Me It's Over'.
Finally to James121, it's been a nice change to see so many no. 1 singles this year at no. 1 for more than one week. Black Eyed Peas at no. 6 weeks - yeah!!! I didn't even think it would be a no. 1 - they soon proved me wrong!!!

I think its sad that the worst selling No1 is Kylie, for some reason 'Slow' didnt do it for lots of people, i personally thought it was brilliant a little bit different, but still the same fantastic Kylie!

Its not really that surprising that the lowest selling #1 has come from 2003. It has been a weak year for singles sales. Lets hope it improves in 2004 with the introduction of the £1.99 CD single. Westlife's "Mandy" will probably leave the lowest sales chart within the next couple of weeks due to Christmas sales. Also I thought Kylie sold closer to 90K

Looking at future #1s. I don't think Victoria Beckham or S Club 8 are likely to hit #1. In particular every S Club 8 song appears to be getting weaker and they've not been able to surpass "One Step Closer" and still live in the shadow of S Club 7.
What about Alistair Griffin with "Bring It On/A Lover's Prayer" for the first #1 of 2004?

S Club 8 - I agree Hitstastic it could be a future number 1, but I usually say that for some reason. rmbod, they had 3 number 2 hits in a row - only due to Suga****s, Gareth Gates and then Las Ketchup did they not have a number 1 so I'd say its since then they haven't lived up to it.

In February there is gonna be a big battle for no.1 in the second week, it's gonna be Britney vs. Westlife. (Obvious vs. Toxic) Peronally I hope it's Britney that makes it as toxic is an amazing song and she hasn't had a no. 1 since. Oops! I did it again. (has anyone heard toxic and whats ur opinions of it?)

To DSQ, glad that you agree with me about S Club 8 likely to be no. 1 come first Sunday in January. You're spot on - 'One Step Closer' sold 500 copies less than 'Freak Like Me', and they weren't going to outsell Gareth Gates or the song of last summer 'Las Ketchup' so you never know.
To rmbod, I've just wrote in another post that Alistair Griffin has changed his release date for 'Bring It On' three times already, and it wouldn't surprise me if he postponed it again. I quite like 'Bring It On' but if the much hyped about Alex Parks can't hit no. 1 - then I can't see Alistair Griffin hitting the top 5, yet alone no. 1.
Finally to Philip Thompson, this battle between Westlife and Britney - I wouldn't count on it just yet. There was meant to be a "MASSIVE" battle between Kylie and Britney. In the albums charts, Kylie won - but they were originally going "head to head" in the singles chart too. When you look at the first week sales figures for their singles (ending up released a week apart) Britney sold more than Kylie, yet Kylie hit no. 1 - Britney got blocked by Busted. As for Westlife, almost everyone here thought 'Mandy' would bomb while Alex Parks would sail to no. 1 - but it didn't happen in the end.
If these two songs do go "head to head" then one of them is very likely to end Michelle McManus' run at no. 1 with 'All This Time'.
I've heard Britney Spears 'Toxic' - it's got weird strings, and it's about 180 bpm - well, it's fast!!! I've not heard 'Obvious' and personally, I don't intend to!!!)

I really hope The Rasmus release In The Shadows in the UK sometime next year. It would easily be the song to end Michelle's run at the top (calm down, she hasn't even got there yet!) - I don't understand why they're not releasing here yet.
