View Full Version : Alphabetical Access to Charts

I have noticed that the access to the charts is very random, though an alphabetical access by country name would have been much better.
I also think World charts like World Adult, World Country, World Jazz, World R&B, World Latin, World Dance etc should be logically sequenced one after each other (also alphabetically) rather than coming at various places.
The Much Music chart is a Canadian chart as well and would be better if it comes immediately after Canada Chart.

Hi myuuzik
If you are talking about the main page of the charts:
I don't think that the charts are not in order.
To be honest I think that is difficult to find a better division for the charts...
Actually they are divided for Continent and for Music Genre and each category is organized with charts written in alphabetical order.
If you are talking about the fast menu for the selection of the charts I think that the order depends from the order which has been used to add the charts in the last years...for example the last charts of that list are Top Latino and Ukraine that are the last two charts added on the website.
This order probably depends from the code used for that manu and not always is possible to change it... probably in this case is not possible to update it.
This mixed order is also the same present in the songs page when you click on "Full History".
I hope that in the next months new charts will be added but I've seen that the biggest markets are still all present... East Europe and South East Asia have some countries missing, but all growing markets that are not yet big today... probably Mexico is the only big market missing in these charts... but there aren't official charts from that countries for the singles.
The main charts page is excellent.
Yes I was talking about the drop down menu. But I don't see the wisdom of keeping it as you said with historical appearance in Top 40 Charts. People use drop down menus to check the most popular, as a short cut, not the most recent charts introduced.
So the most visited charts perhaps.... done in an alphabetical order seems to be more logical.

NightyGeko, we are working to launch within next weeks 2 'Genre' Charts: University/College (charts from main Universities and College Radio Stations) and The Heetseakers chart (for the new bands/artists).
Until the end of May, these charts will be appeared on Top40 Charts - as you already know, from the last week you are informing about Ringtones, by the Ringtones Chart. For new 'countries' there are plans for Mexico and Turkey, but we haven't the ability to mention the 'time'! :-)

myuuzik, it's a good idea for the 'Charts' drop down menu, the alphabetical order! For our webpage http://top40-charts.com/charts.php, the charts are already in alphabetical order, for each category (Genres, Countries, World Charts etc.)

Hi Paris
I've just read your reply here...
As I've told in the other topic there are other 4 countries official charts:
Hungary, Czech Rep., Slovakia and South Korea...
There should be the possibility in the future to have these countries too?
Or these markets are still too small to be considered here?

Yes, but we do not know the time. Not only these charts you mentioned but also many more, but we have to organize them better in the long term/future.

Yes of course is not easy... more charts to update... more data... more songs to put on the database... etc...
The important thing is that in future there will be place for these charts too...
The last question is about the Indian and Top Latino charts...will they be update again in future?;)

ofcourse! The reason for non-updates is the SQL DB - we are trying to fx the problem.
