Analysis
In the closest ever Music DVD chart KT just pips S Club 7 and Jewel to the No.1 with the new DVD single of Suddenly I See, while Mariah and Girls Aloud dip one place each. The album chart has no new entries this week but that doesn’t stop the action…There are a few significant climbers, the most notable of those being Shakira bouncing back from No.20 to No.13 with Fijacion Oral, James Blunt and Charlotte Church both registering climbs of one place inside the top 10, while Mariah’s Emancipation of Mimi improves four places from No.10 to No.6!!! Inside the top 5, Kelly Clarkson’s Thankful swaps places with KT Tunstall’s former No.1 Eye to the telescope landing the latter a return to the top 3 while Best Club Anthems 05 remains sandwiched at No.4. Daniel Powter spends a second week in the runners up position with his eponymous debut album while Kelly Clarkson’s amazing album Breakaway scores a 7th consecutive week at No.1, the longest unbroken stay since 2003!!!
The singles chart has only two new entries, Natasha Bedingfield’s Stumble and Daniel Powter’s Hollywood coming into the bottom two rungs of the chart but this does not stop the action with 7 climbers to note…Kelly Clarkson has a poor week singles wise with all 4 of her remaining songs falling, most notably long runner Since u been gone down from No.3 to No.6 and last week’s No.1 Behind these hazel eyes down from No.1 to No.5…James Blunt, Lil’ Love, Tammin, Gwen Stefani and Freemasons all register huge slips outside the top 10, the latter two coming from last week’s top 5…Into a top 10 which has 6 climbers, Suga****s and Liberty X help UK pop music, surging to No.10 and No.8 respectively, while former S Clubber Rachel Stevens moves up a couple of spots with her new single…Into the top 5 with the aforementioned Kelly at No.5, Mylo’s bootleg of Drop the pressure and Dr Beat, now known as Dr Pressure climbs into the top 5 at No.4, while a more impressive climb is another S Clubber, lead singer Jo O’ Meara moving up 16 places to No.3 with What hurts the most. Former No.1 Daniel Powter’s Bad Day sticks at No.2 this week, while the No.1 is from an unlikely source. With her second No.1 of the year, KT Tunstall surges from No.13 to the top with Suddenly I See, the occasion being odd as it had originally peaked at No.2 in March earlier this year and finally makes the top 6 months later!!!
