Analysis
More big changes this week…starting with the Music DVD chart, Jewel gets the chance to shine at No.1 pushing KT down to No.3 while S Club remained sandwiched between at No.2…Over in the albums, another quiet week with no new entries but this gives some climbers. Delta, James Blunt and Mariah all move up the top 10 the latter back to the top 5…KT Tunstall moves down to No.4, while Daniel Powter’s album follows her down a place…In somewhat of a rare albums double, Kelly Clarkson’s debut album Thankful moves up to its peak of No.2 on its 3rd week in the top 5 while Breakaway spends an incredible 8th consecutive week on top of the pile!!!
The active singles chart sees 6 new entries including Kelly Clarkson, James Blunt’s 6th top 20 hit with High, a B-side from KT Tunstall and Shake it off, the new single from Mariah Carey at No.13…Elsewhere outside the top 10, Kelly’s Beautiful Disaster and Mariah’s We Belong Together both continue their very slow descend of the chart and Suga****s and Kelly’s Breakaway both fall a couple out of the top 10…The top 10 starts with the highest new entry, Perfection by Dannii Minogue, following You won’t forget about me which spent 4 weeks at No.2 in 2004…Kelly Clarkson’s 2 former No.1’s Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes both fall, the former 1 place to No.7 and the latter 4 places down to No.9…Liberty X stay at No.8 while Rachel Stevens continues to climb; up a place to No.6!!! KT Tunstall begins the top 5 with a drop from No.1 with Suddenly I See, while fellow long runner Daniel Powter follows her out of the top 3 as he falls from 2 to 4…Natasha Bedingfield returns to the top 3 for the first time in almost a year with Stumble, a new track from her US album leaping up from No.20 to No.3!!! Mylo also moves up into No.2 on his 3rd week in the top 10 while the battle of the S Clubbers is temporarily won by Jo O’ Meara who beats Rachel (at 6) to score her first ever No.1, even beating the peak of S Club 7’s highest hit Bring it all back (No.2 in June 1999)!!!
