Gannett Media gives thumbs up to Lareau

Fans of Bruce Hornsby, early Elton John and Billy Joel will love this collection by singer/songwriter Larry Lareau, who has shaped a solid record of original pop/rock songs dealing mostly with relationships. The album starts off in a mellow vibe with its least desirable tracks, but it quickly kicks into gear by the time track 4, "Feeling It The Way I Do," arrives. From that point on, the song writing and the musical performances get better and better. "Another Life," is the best song on the disc, and has Lareau singing about unrequited love: "In another life, we could have been friends..." Mention should also be given to the excellent band that backs him, and keyboardists Darrin Payne and Anthony Brown. If you have Hornsby or Dave Matthews Band in your collection, you will want to check out this strong debut.
