View Full Version : can you recommend some spanish music?
Hi all
I am going on holiday soon to Majorca, and my son has asked me to bring back a few Spanish/Latin cds. He likes good rap/hip hop and some rock, could some of you nice cool people recommend some good bands or artists to check out. I did bring back from Malaga last year a cd by 'Chambou', which he liked very much.
Hope you can help, thank you.

One of my favorite genres of latin music is Bachata. Although it is known for its origins in the Dominican Republic, it is enjoyed everywhere.
"Aventura" is one of the best groups in this genre. Anything by Aventura practically is a number one hit.
A few other great bachata singers include Frank Reyes, Antony Santos, Andy Andy and Monchy y Alexandria.
As for rap/hip hop, "Reggaeton" is the way to go. This genre is basically Spanish rap combined with a bit of urban reggae.
Among the most notable Reggaeton artists out now are Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, Rakim y Ken Y, Don Omar, Zion y Lennox, Hector "El Father", Nicky Jam and many many more.
For Rock I would recommend Sin Bandera. They are an excellent group from Mexico. Also Luis Fonsi and Juanes should not be forgotten.
As for Pop, RBD is a great group. Also Julieta Venegas and of course Shakira.
I hope this helps a bit, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask. :-)

Many thanks for the reply,I will definitely check out your recommendations.
Funnily enough, my son likes reggaeton, and we did bring a few cds back from our hols' for him.. In fact we stopped at a bar in Puerto Pollensa one night, and had a few beers listening to reggaeton being played on the loudspeakers..cool place!
Thanks again, must look in on forum more often !
