I hope you can see a rerun of Oklahoma's 100 years which was celebrated in grandeur tonight with country music superstars Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and Garth Brooks. All Oklahoma natives.

In addition to a home of talent, Oklahoma has a very unique and colorful history. For a quick and enjoyable read on Oklahoma's history here are several pieces of poetry created for Oklahoma's Centennial, you should find interesting.

1. Telling Oklahoma's history which can be found at

2. Describing Oklahoma's beautiful scenery at

BTW those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing "ALL of Oklahoma", you may not be aware how the Hollywood myth has left people with a wrong impression of the Oklahoma landscape.

Borrowing from Wikipedia

"Among the most ecologically diverse states, Oklahoma is one of four to harbor more than 10 distinct ecological regions, containing eleven within its borders, more per square mile than in any other state. Marked by differences in geographical diversity between its western and eastern halves, eastern Oklahoma touches eight ecological regions, while its western half holds three."

Furthermore another common misbelieve that Oklahoma was given to the Indians is another myth. They wanted Oklahoma because of the plentiful game and rich hunting grounds. When settlers moved into the East depleting the wildlife, Indians from the East would make annual trips to Oklahoma to gather meat to take back East for the winter. Oklahoma wasn't settled early simply because of some very rugged areas that were too difficult for wagon travel. The early movements west found it easier to go around Oklahoma. Leaving Oklahoma for hunters and trappers.
