Indianapolis, IN (Top40 Charts/ Giles Communications) Yamaha Artist Services Indianapolis announced that Jacob Nissly, principal percussionist of the San Francisco Symphony, has joined the Yamaha Percussion Artist family.
Nissly earned a Bachelor of
Music and Jazz Studies degree from Northwestern University, where he studied with Michael Burritt,
James Ross, Paul Wertico and Joel Spencer. He received a Master of
Music degree from The Juilliard School, having studied with Greg Zuber and Dan Druckman.
Prior to his appointment in San Francisco, Nissly served as the principal percussionist of the Cleveland and
Detroit symphonies. He has also performed with the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera, the
Houston Symphony and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Several of Nissly's summers have been spent performing with the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Verbier, Switzerland, and the Pacific
Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan.

Nissly maintains a robust teaching schedule, serving as adjunct professor of percussion at the Eastman School of
Music in Rochester, New York. Additionally, he has taught classes at The Juilliard School, the University of Michigan, Florida
State University, Ohio
State University,
Indiana University and the Cleveland
Institute of Music, among others.
