When writing "Waves", the Detroit duo focused more on capturing a feeling rather than a concrete narrative. The project began on a 5AM psychedelic winter walk through the streets of Paris, when Josh Smith (guitar, vocals, production) and Josh Freed (samples, synths, production) were intensely affected by the reverb of their croons in the narrow Parisian corridors. They have spent 2014 playing shows around Detroit and setting up guerrilla recording sessions in vacant spaces. The mind and body engrossing single allows you to reflect on those rare and fleeting moments in life when things are unfolding for the first time and everything seems open and possible.
