Indie-Folk Duo, Smoke Season, Releases New EP 'Hot Coals Cold Souls'
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ LaFamos Press) Off the heels from the buzz-worthy release of the music video for their lead single "Badlands", indie-folk duo Smoke Season delivers their new EP, Hot Coals Cold Souls. The group has been on a roll since their conception, wowing music enthusiasts across the board with their unique sound. Hot Coals Cold Souls lives up to, and surpasses, the standard they so quickly set for themselves.

The EP features three songs, including their previously released single, "Badlands". The strong, haunting vocals on the remaining tracks, "Opaque" and "Simmer Down" are enough to give you the chills as they ebb and flow throughout each track. Produced by David Burris and Kyle Draper and recorded at Manifest Music, the songs on Hot Coals Cold Souls flow from one another and showcase the band's unique sound. Made up of lead singer/ keyboardist Gabrielle Wortman and guitarist/ backing vocalist Jason Rosen, the duo also recruited Christopher Roberts for percussion and Gabe Davis for bass. Smoke Season has created an infusion of styles that is warm and ethereal with electronic, dance nuances. This sound comes from the organic convergence of Wortman and Rosen's different personalities that somehow compliment each other so well. The twosome creates music with a powerful allure you can find in full force on the new EP.

Formed in 2013, Smoke Season's interesting infusion of indie, electronic and folk sounds continue to capture the attention of fans and press since day one. Smoke Season released their first EP, Signals in March of 2013. With their quickly earned popularity, Smoke Season has been touring and showcasing their music around the country. Some of their more notable shows include the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, AXS TV, Bite Size TV, and Balcony TV. Earlier this month, The Echoplex announced Smoke Season as the August headliner for the coveted month long residency. Presented by Free Bike Valet, Balcony TV, and All Scene Eye, fans can attend the residency for free on Monday nights (4th, 18th, and 25th). More details about the residency can be found on the band's Facebook event page.

The new EP is just another step for the indie-folk duo and is sure to take them to the next level of success. With an undeniable talent, natural musical chemistry and a headlining residency in Los Angeles, the only direction Smoke Season can go from here is up!
