New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Country artist Andy Schneider will release his new EP, EPIC FAIL, on October 3rd. The single, "Tuned Up," is now playing on dozens of Americana stations nationwide while the music video is available at https://www.cmt.com/artists/andy-schneider/.
Self-described as a road veteran, songsmith and country boy, Schneider has spent his life touring America, playing many of our nation's classic music rooms: from farm town taverns to legendary big city venues.
"I grew up in the country, and blues and country music were all I knew until I moved away," explains Schneider. "I played my first road-gig on my 18th birthday. I got the bug, and my love for playing for people has never faded."
That's what Andy is: the crossroads in
America where dirt roads meet the highway to city life. "One of the blessings of my life is that I've had the chance to move around, see life from lots of angles," Andy reflects. "I've lived in New York City and Austin and lots of little places in-between and the way each experiences music is very different. I like to draw on those differences when approaching music."
At home in Nashville, Andy's found his place in the world. "This is the best chapter of my life so far. Nashville allows me to be exactly who I am. It's a big city with a lot of heart, a lot of soul. It's got love and respect for musicians and writers." Andy moved from Marfa,
Texas to Nashville in 2013, drawn by the country music industry. "I was co-writing with lots of Nashville writers via Skype and email, then decided it was time to make the jump. I still love writing with people, but found that I still had a lot to say as an artist that was personal."
Nashville has been good to Andy. Just weeks after moving to town, he found himself working on the set of ABC's hit series, Nashville, and showcasing at the historic Bluebird Café. Soon after, he received a sponsorship from guitar effects makers, ScreaminFX. "I've been a fan of ScreaminFX gear for years. They are about all I ever use between my guitar and amp."
With the release of his new EP just around the corner, Andy has been reflecting on what music is and what it should be. He envisions a world where things are rarely black and white, the good guys look a lot like the bad guys, and even angels have their demons. "I think somebody smashed my rose-colored glasses when I was young," he jokes. "Music should be honest, to the core. And if you want it honestly, rarely do I feel like everything in my life is perfect. I make an effort to appreciate it all, but my ice cream usually has an ant in it." His music reflects that view. Even when in a celebrating mood, there's usually a tinge of uneasiness lurking about. A self-reflectiveness that mutes the vibrance.
