New York, NY (Top40 Charts) St. Mark's Episcopal Church became an organized parish in July 1855, fourteen years before Fort Dodge was incorporated. Two church structures, both of which were later destroyed by fire, were erected in various locations before the existing stone building at First Avenue South and Tenth Street was erected and dedicated in October, 1894.
The roots of the Episcopal Church go back to the Church of England. With this grand English heritage, a celebration with an Olde English Tea will help mark the 120th Anniversary. In attendance and participating in the celebration will also be Bishop Alan Scarfe, who was born in Bradford located in Yorkshire, England.
A grand selection of teas will be served. The selection includes Youthberry/Wide
Orange Blossom which is a delicate white tea, Maharaja Chai Oolong/Samuran Chi Tea delivers an aroma of a robust chai, Golden Monkey is a top Chinese black tea from the Fujian province and Darjeeling de Triomphe is considered the most coveted "Champagne of Tea".
Each of the teas will be paired with specialty desserts and delicate finger sandwiches. All will be prepared and served by the Iowa Central Community College Culinary Arts. Proceeds from the Olde English Tea will be donated to the class for their annual trip to the
Chicago Food Trade Show.
Guests will be greeted and introduced in fine English fashion upon arrival to a beautifully decorated tea room filled with antique tea pots and decor. All are encouraged to don their Downton Abbey inspired finest dress to add to the entertainment of the event.
