New Zealand Platinum Selling Opera Trio Signs To Capitol For US Debut
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) SOL3 MIO [pronounced Sole Mio] - the New Zealand trio comprised of two tenor brothers, Amitai Pati and Pene Pati, and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay - will bring their three powerful and moving operatic voices stateside with the release of their self-titled EP 'SOL3 MIO' (November 24th) and full length self-titled album and North American tour in spring 2015. Classically trained and contemporary influenced, the group became international stars after a breakthrough performance on New Zealand television in 2012, and their self-titled debut album on Capitol Records - featuring opera classics and modern favorites - went six times platinum, making it the best selling album of 2013 in New Zealand.

'SOL3 MIO' EP will give American listeners a taste of the trios impressive vocal range. The four song EP includes "Au fond du temple saint (The Pearl Fishers' Duet)" - one of the best-known numbers in Western opera - Neapolitan classic "O Sole Mio" (watch the group's humorous music video here), "Yellow Bird," "Ten Guitars," the B-side of Engelbert Humperdinck's #1 single "Release Me."

While the trio's musical backgrounds span from putting on weekly performances as children (Amitai and Pene in the rest home their farther worked in, and Moses in a local hospital to the mentally ill), to mastering the guitar and ukulele and earning Bachelors of Music from the University of Auckland, it was when Moses and Pene sang in the choir behind Andrea Bocelli in 2008 that their eyes and ears were fully opened to the possibilities of opera. Their newfound passion set them on a course that would lead to the formation of SOL3 MIO in 2011. In the years since, the trio has made it their mission to use their family honed, uncontainable Samoan humor to entertain audiences and bring opera to the masses.
