"Many of you may know that this is the second attempt for raising funds for my new recording, 'Live in NYC.' This time around, I am setting a goal of $11,000. You may ask, 'how did I arrive to that figure if I need more?' Well, with Kickstarter, if you do not reach your goal, you do not get any of the pledged support. If only the $11,000 is reached, that will help me to get through the next phase of preparing the CD for release. And, the great news is that if the campaign goes beyond the $11,000 goal, the project will receive those funds as well. In either scenario, it will help me to get this recording out, and into your hands, which, after all, is what my main goal is. Now, about the project:"
'Steve Wilson & Wilsonian's Grain' performed for six nights at the famed Village Vanguard this past May, and recorded the final two nights of the run. The Kickstarter funds will help to pay for the production costs, recording and mixing fees, musicians, and more. All Pledge Level details follow - including the opportunity for a limited number of fans to receive a private lesson from the renowned saxophonist. The new Kickstarter campaign is active as of this morning, and will end Tuesday, November 25th at 11:59pm.
In addition to seeking necessary financial assistance, Wilson is hoping to connect more with his loyal fans via Kickstarter. This will be Wilson's first quartet release since 2003 and he looks forward to including his supporters on his new musical adventure.
The upcoming live album, likely to emerge as a career-defining classic, represents a number of "firsts" for Wilson: First time doing a live recording as a leader, first time recording at the historic Village Vanguard, and first time recording with his 'go- to-band', Wilsonian's Grain. The band includes the great talents of Orrin Evans on piano, bassist Ugonna Okegwo and Bill Stewart on drums.
