Brad Mehldau & Mark Guiliana's "Mehliana: Taming The Dragon" Wins Edison Jazz Award
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Nonesuch Records) Congratulations to Brad Mehldau and Mark Guiliana, whose album, Mehliana: Taming the Dragon, has won the Edison Award for Best International Jazz Album. It is the debut album from the electric duo, featuring Mehldau on Fender Rhodes and synthesizers and Guiliana on drums and effects. The winners of the Dutch award were announced on Radio 6 in the Netherlands; the awards will be presented in a gala ceremony at the Muziekgebouw Frits Philips in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on Thursday, November 27. For more information, visit edisons.nl.

The album has also been nominated in Modern Drummer's Reader's Poll for Best Recorded Performance, so head to moderndrummer.com to vote on your favorite.

Mehliana: Taming the Dragon comprises 12 original tunes - six written by the duo and six written by Mehldau - and was engineered and mixed by Greg Koller (Jon Brion, Kanye West). Jazzwise calls it "astonishing ... one of the best albums of 2014." The album earned four stars from the Guardian and MusicOMH, which calls it "wholly absorbing ... an intuitive, compelling dialogue between the two musicians." To pick up a copy of the album, head to iTunes or the Top40-Charts.com Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a free MP3 download of the complete album at checkout; MP3 and FLAC lossless files are available to purchase there as well.

Brad Mehldau closes out a European tour with a duo of a different sort, with label mate Chris Thile, in performance in France, Spain, and Ireland this weekend. He kicks off a US tour with his Trio in December. For details and tickets, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
