Two-Time Latin Grammy Winner Fonseca And Jazz Artist Jon Batiste Collaborate On Anthem For Social Change
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Two-time Latin Grammy winner Juan Fonseca and jazz virtuoso Jon Batiste have collaborated on a new song for Fusion. "Rise Up" debuts on iTunes and serves as the official anthem of Fusion's special cross-platform RiseUp coverage. On November 19, Fusion will host its RiseUp summit, an unprecedented gathering of leading global activists, artists, technologists and political leaders, in Washington, D.C. Proceeds from the song will be donated to Unicef. Download available here.

Although they come from very different backgrounds, Fonseca and Batiste found common ground in their passion for activism and their eclectic musical tastes. Their collaboration, "Rise Up," is a powerful anthem for social change. Watch a brief interview from the artists.

Fonseca and Batiste will perform the song live Monday, November 17 on Univision's "Despierta América" with additional live performances on "Fusion Live" and at the RiseUp after party on Wednesday, November 19.

RiseUp is an action-oriented summit hosted by Fusion and will turn a national spotlight on recent, historic youth-led social and political activism and the crucial role played by technology, music and art in movements from Egypt, Turkey, Taiwan, Hong Kong to Ferguson and across the U.S. RiseUp will take place in Washington, D.C., on November 19 at Union Market and will be live-streamed on Fusion's digital platform (fusion.net). Visit fusionriseup.com to learn more about the event. For Fusion's ongoing RiseUp coverage visit: fusion.net/topic/RiseUp.

Fonseca and Batiste will perform "Rise Up" live at the summit on November 19 as part of an evening concert and jam session directed by Grammy Award winning producer Andres Levin. The jam session will also feature special guests known for their involvement in activism and philanthropy, including the Cuban singer and social justice advocate Cucu Diamantes and members of her critically acclaimed band Yerba Buena. Before and after the concert, Mari Malek, a.k.a. DJ Stiletto, a South Sudanese refugee turned super model, will be the DJ for the evening.
