Nashville Symphony To Perform U.S. Premiere Of Roger Waters' Ca Ira
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "We are thrilled and honored to have a legendary talent like Roger Waters at the Schermerhorn to debut this phenomenal production for an American audience," -- Alan Valentine, Nashville Symphony president and CEO.

The Nashville Symphony will proudly welcome Roger Waters to Music City for the U.S. premiere of his landmark production, Ça Ira, at Schermerhorn Symphony Center January 30, 2015.

A classical opera set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, Ça Ira (which loosely translates as "There Is Hope" in French) evokes the passion, faith and madness of a time that forever changed the world. Featuring Waters' spoken narration, the epic piece is scored for full orchestra, four solo voices, chorus and a children's chorus. The Nashville Symphony, Nashville Symphony Chorus, Blair Children's Chorus, the world renowned Brian Hymel, Sally Matthews, David Soar and Sam Handley will all perform onstage with Waters.

"This American premiere is the next step in a remarkable journey for a project that began nearly 25 years ago, and it is a work that incorporates themes and ideas that I have addressed since the start of my career," said Waters. "Though Ça Ira takes audiences back to a very different time more than 200 years ago, there are undeniable parallels to the world in which we live today. That story, and the lessons that can be learned from it, delivered in a performance that borrows from both classical and modern musical ideals, make Ça Ira an experience that I believe will strongly resonate with an American audience."

The Nashville Symphony has cultivated a national and international reputation for its creative, expansive programming, partnering with artists such as Ben Folds, banjoist Béla Fleck and bassist Victor Wooten on groundbreaking commissions and world premieres.

"We are thrilled and honored to have a legendary talent like Roger Waters at the Schermerhorn to debut this phenomenal production for an American audience," said Alan Valentine, Nashville Symphony president and CEO. "We embrace any opportunity to expand our artistic mission with adventurous, ground-breaking projects, and Ça Ira promises to be a night of entertainment that Middle Tennesseans will never forget."

Tickets are available at NashvilleSymphony.org, via phone at 615.687.6400 or the Schermerhorn Symphony Center box office, 1 Symphony Place, Nashville, TN 37201.
