New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Directed by Rob Sherwood, "I Am Alive" is a visual feast for its viewers incorporating stunning Australian landscapes, raw surf footage and a story that weaves throughout. Sherwood's work helps highlight the lyrical and melodic heights of the single and takes the band in a brand new direction. Little Earthquake's Matt and Justin Hyland captured the attention of bloggers and radio stations around the world with their first single "Planets" meshing intricate electronic soundscapes with the brother's ear for a hook, however, new single "I Am Alive" is where all the pieces of Little Earthquake have finally fit together.
Partnering again with producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, Pnau), the band have crafted the track, the video and their live show into a 360 degree experience; blending upbeat melodies, with high-energy on stage antics.
"We've always felt that Little Earthquake is about connection to our audiences and making the most of both the studio experimentation and live instruments is something we always hold paramount," said Justin. "The video takes things to the next level and explains our connection with the earth and environment around us. I Am Alive has really captured the essence of the band and we can't wait to get out on the road and show people what we've been working on."
The song was inspired by the realisation that life is full of simple beauty but that you have to be prepared to take responsibility for your choices to appreciate it when it's on offer.
"We both have addictive personalities and there were times in our life that we were both off the rails and we had expectations on everyone else," said Matt. "We lived on emotional handouts from those around us and people get tired of trying to fix you when you're not prepared to fix yourself. I Am Alive celebrates the extra feeling of living you get when you take control."
