NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Sony
Music Nashville/ www.sonynashville.com) - John Grady, President of Sony
Music Nashville has announced the signing of singer/songwriter
Jon Randall to an exclusive recording contract with the company's Epic Records label.
Randall is currently in the studio with famed producer George Massenburg (Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, Linda Ronstadt, Earth, Wind & Fire) working on an album that will hit stores in early 2005. He was recently nominated in the "Song of the Year" category at the upcoming CMA Awards for co-writing the Brad Paisley/Alison Kraus No 1 duet "Whiskey Lullaby."
Born and raised in Dallas, Randall gained early fame as part of Emmylou Harris' Nash Ramblers. He won a Grammy Award at age 21 for his work with the band on At The Ryman. Through the ups and downs of the music business, he continued to write, sing and play, eventually catching the eye of Sony Nashville chief Grady.
"Jon Randall is the entire package," said Grady. "He is an extremely talented vocalist, musician and songwriter. George Massenburg is one of most talented producers of our era. The two of them together have created a masterpiece that takes you on an incredible musical journey through all of their talent. People talk about artists having a gift. In my humble opinion, their talent and this record is a gift, to all of us."
Fans can catch Jon playing guitar for one of his heroes Earl Scruggs as part of the Banjo Man's Family and Friends Band at the Country Music Hall of Fame's Ford Theater every Tuesday in September. Randall is managed by Monty Hitchcock at M. Hitchcock Management and booked by the William Morris Agency.
