Gordon Voidwell Simultaneously Releases
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) After releasing several critically-acclaimed mixtapes, including 2009's Voided Checks, 2012's MalcolmXXXMclaren, and 2014's Bad Etudes, Brooklyn-born and Bronx-bred electro-pop crooner Gordon Voidwell finally dropped his long-awaited debut album Leap Into The Void! on March 17th. Further satisfying his fans' craving for new material, Voidwell also released the 5-song Leap Year EP at the same time.

The digital-only self-produced Leap Into The Void! album showcases the Harlem Boys Choir alumnus' signature airy falsetto over an array of carefully selected instrumentation, with Gordon acting as the sole musician and vocalist throughout. The album's opener "Leap Year", with its tinges of Far Eastern melodies and manic keyboard loops, sounds as if it could have been recorded inside of a Pachinko parlor. GV continues to flex his electro-funky r&b wings on hard-hitting tracks like "Smiles and Gold Teeth" and "Disappearance," while "Bling" continues in Voidwell's tradition of space-age love jams that have prompted the New York Times to claim that he is "en route to giving Prince a run for his money."Gordon also doesn't shy away from his post-punk inclinations on tracks like "Africa Art at the MoMa" and "Blk Kids."

On the Leap Year EP, GV delivers his funkiest cuts to date on the gender-bending "Girlfriend Jeans" and the LCD Soundsystem-esque "Homemade VHS."In a rare collaborative effort, Gordon also employs the skills of legendary guitarist Vernon Reid on a blistering solo for the EP's smoothed-out opener "New Number.""XO Boyfriend" is Voidwell at his most aggressive, when he warns "if i see you in the streets, you'd better run."The accompanying video is a frame-by-frame nod to Whitney Houston's classic "How Will I Know" clip.
