Emily West Debuts Her New Single "Bitter"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Singer-songwriter and vocal powerhouse, Emily West releases "Bitter," the first single from her debut album All For You, available now (Portrait/Sony Music Masterworks). The album release will follow in August.
Currently headlining a multi-city tour, West brings a series of weekly performances of her one-woman show to New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Chicago through June. She is also the opening act for comedian Jay Leno, and will commence her fall tour in September.
West wrote the very personal single, "Bitter." Of the track, West says, 'This is a great song to roll down the windows to and sing your heart out - it's a song about empowerment."
The Waterloo, Iowa native, moved to Nashville at the age of 18, where she honed her songwriting and performance skills in the local clubs. Soon after arriving, West landed a publishing and record label deal and released three country singles. She was also nominated with duet partner Keith Urban for the Academy of Country Music Awards in the category of "Vocal Event of the Year" for their song "Blue Sky."
Driven by her love and fear of New York City, West got on a plane, got lost on the subway, and found herself auditioning for America's Got Talent. This gave her the opportunity to demonstrate her vulnerability and versatility to a wide audience. As a finalist on Season 9, West won crowds over, including AGT judge Howard Stern, with re-imagined versions of songs like the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin," Sia's hit "Chandelier" and Cyndi Lauper's classic "True Colors," all of which appear on her upcoming album, along with three original songs. Lauper, one of West's greatest supporters and mentors, performed "True Colors" on AGT with West, a track which resonated with fans from multiple generations.
In addition to her tour dates, West will perform the National Anthem across the country at major sporting events for the NHL, MLB and NBA.
