Kevin Kliesch Wins Daytime Emmy Award For Sofia The First
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Company) Krakower Poling PR proudly congratulates composer Kevin Kliesch for winning his first Daytime EMMY® award for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for Disney Channel's Sofia The First! The awards were held on Friday, April 24, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA.

In the episode, "Princesses to the Rescue!," Kliesch used non-traditional Asian-themed instruments to augment the sweeping score the pictured needed. Kliesch's emergence of his trademark forward thinking sound stands poised to continue striking blows into the hearts and minds of music initiates alike. Last year, Sofia The First was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the same category having lost to another Nickelodeon series, Bubble Guppies. This is Kevin's second Annie Award nomination and his second Daytime EMMY nomination for this animated series.

"I'm incredibly elated to bring home the EMMY for Sofia the First," Kliesch says, "I was up against 5 other incredibly talented composers, and I fully expected not to win the trophy since the field was so competitive." When his name was called, he stated he was "shocked to be recognized by the Academy after many years of hard work," making this victory a "dream come true."

Kliesch has worked as a composer and orchestrator on over 100 feature films spanning the past seventeen years. He's a multi-instrumentalist who is proficient in piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, French horn, and saxophone. He parlayed his success as an orchestrator to composing, where he has found success in the animation genre - receiving his first Annie Award nomination for his work on the Thundercats series in 2012. That year he earned two more nominations from BSO Spirit for their Jerry Goldsmith Awards in Best Television score (Thundercats) and Breakout Composer of the Year.

Kliesch's recent composing projects also include DC Comics' animated movies Superman: Unbound and Justice League: War, along with the Walt Disney short film Tangled Ever After.
