New York, NY (Top40 Charts) There's no denying the notion that Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey and the world of music go hand in hand. That evolving relationship continues today as Jack Daniel's launches "Uncut Sessions" - a solely digital program giving fans a new level of access to artists through one-take performances that reveal a never-before-seen side of the artists behind the mic.
By choosing unreleased, rare or reworked songs that have distinct meaning to them, the selected artists share something new about the material, and themselves, with fans through one unexpected and uncut experience. Shot in the venue of their choosing, each artist brings a unique perspective to their one-take performance.
Launching May 12, fans will be able to watch the first two "Uncut" performances, one from Grammy award winning artist Miguel, and the other from EDM sensation Robert DeLong, on JDUncutSessions.com. Soon thereafter, "Uncut Sessions" will feature critically acclaimed hip-hop duo Run the Jewels.
"From intimate recording studios to the largest arenas in the world, Jack Daniel's has been there when incredible artists have come together to create the soundtrack for so many generations," said Jesus Ostos, Senior
Brand Manager for Jack Daniel's. "We are excited to pull back the curtain and give fans an up and close look at their favorite artists through these raw, emotional and unedited performances. No matter the genre, it seems Jack is often there when great music is being made."
Not only will fans be able to watch video of the one-shot takes, but free, exclusive audio downloads of Run the Jewels and Robert DeLong's performances will be available for two weeks only at JDUncutSessions.com. Fans can download Robert DeLong's from May 13 - June 14 and Run the Jewels performance will be available from May 26 - June 14.
"Today's music fans devour all styles of music, not just one style, and we believe these exciting artists in this rare setting will appeal to a wide and diverse group of music fans," said Ostos. "Listeners are open to, and crave discovery. In addition to the videos, consumers will be able to access behind the scenes videos, photos, artist information and more via an authentic music experience."
The "Uncut Sessions" was created and executed by advertising agency, FCB/RED.
About the Artists
Miguel
Miguel broke through in 2010 with the album "
All I Want Is You" and its infectious title track, which blended his creamy vocals with a stark hip-hop beat to redefine pop and soul. But before that, he'd spent years producing, writing, and honing his song craft, working with both underground and major label artists, meticulously developing the sound that would establish him as one of the most unique and soulful voices in modern R&B. With his hard-working 4-piece touring band on back-up,
Miguel returns to his recording studio roots at Los Angeles' The Lair Recording Studio for this reworked interpretation of "
Coffee" filmed for Jack Daniel's Uncut Sessions.
Robert DeLong
DeLong cemented his rising star status globally in 2013 with the release of his genre-bending debut album Just Movement. He has since become a mainstay in the festival and touring circuit with his one-man futuristic dance party. DeLong uses a toolbox of Wii-motes, a full drum set, drum pads, keyboards, laptops and game controllers to fuse electronic dance beats with striking melodies and lyrics with emotional heart. His incredible, one-of-a-kind live rock show has brought him across the globe and back, playing major festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo, SXSW, Sasquatch!, Ultra
Music Festival, and Reading and Leeds.
DeLong's strong beats, monster drum solos and mind-blowing performances (that include free face painting) continue to win him new fans. For Jack Daniel's Uncut Sessions, DeLong chose to record a fresh take on his hit song "Long Way Down" at Swing House Studios in Los Angeles.
Run the Jewels
El-P and
Killer Mike may seem like an unlikely pairing, but the duo continue to subvert and pulverize all expectations with their critically lauded releases as Run the Jewels. Tapping into the creative synergy they discovered in 2012 on Mike's R.A.P.
Music album and El-P's Cancer 4 Cure album, Run the Jewels catalyzed their musical alliance with uncompromisingly raw, forward thinking hip-hop on RTJ1 in 2013 and RTJ2 in 2014, earning them universal praise by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, XXL, SPIN, New York Times, and many more as one of music's most relevant, engaging and inspiring acts.
The featured track "Pew Pew Pew" was recently made available for the first time in the US as part of the band's release for Record Store Day 2015. It now makes its performance debut with a one-of-a-kind video filmed in
Killer Mike's Graffiti Swag Barbershop in Atlanta, Georgia shot exclusively for Jack Daniel's Uncut Sessions.
