The Shadows: 'The Final Tour' on DVD & CD in stores November 16th

NEW YORK (Eagle Rock Ent./ www.eaglerocknet.com) - This November 16th, Eagle Rock Entertainment presents The Shadows - The Final Tour both on DVD & Special Double CD. Although relatively obscure in America Hank Marvin and The Shadows have had a big impact on almost every major guitar player England has produced in the last forty years, ranging from George Harrison, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck. Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Alvin Lee, Peter Frampton to Mark Knopfler and Brian May. Hank Marvin was also one of the first musicians to use a Fender Stratocaster guitar in England, and that had an impact on everybody.

'One of the people that made me pick up the guitar was Hank Marvin'. - Peter Green – Fleetwood Mac

'The Shadows were my heroes. More than singers it was the players. I don't know how many English guitarists don't quote Hank Marvin as their hero. He was the one who made you start playing, he and Buddy Holly'. - Peter Frampton

The Shadows were an English instrumental group fronted by Hank Marvin. Much in the vein of The Ventures, Bill Black Trio and even the Elvis Presley band, Scotty Moore And Company. The Shadows backed Cliff Richard who was the UK's answer to Elvis. Their popularity went far beyond the UK shores; it reached all four corners of the world.

The Shadows was formed in 1958 as a backing group for Cliff Richard. They released 'Move It' in 1958 which made its way to number two on the British Music Charts. Their first number one track 'Apache' was released in July 1960 and spent twenty one weeks at the top of the British music charts. The Shadows have enjoyed 34 hits on their own and another 33 through their involvement with Cliff Richard. The Shadows have the distinction of being the only artists to have an Album, EP and a Single at the number one position on the charts simultaneously.

The Shadows are a band with a rich history. The Shadows – 'The Final Tour' DVD & CD provides a great cross section of their brilliant work, which covers over four decades. After watching and listening to this fine package hopefully everybody in America will realize what we have missed out on, in the last forty odd years. Let's join the world community and enjoy the legendary Shadows on their Final Tour.
