New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On April 28th, acclaimed musician and New York-based songwriter Jon Regen released his Motéma debut Stop Time. The Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Paul McCartney) produced album features Davey Faragher and Pete
Thomas from Elvis Costello's band the Imposters and finds Regen at the peak of his songwriting and pianistic power.
The Associated Press said "His sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand are a captivating combination... these songs are made for the repeat button" while AllMusic gave the album four stars and said "Throughout it all, Regen is the star: possessing a sly wit and nimble touch, he slides into lyrical solos without losing sight of his songs, a skill that gives this album a rich, lasting resonance."
Nick Cristiano of The Philadelphia Inquirer said, "A pianist who started out in jazz, Jon Regen has gone on to establish himself as a master of smart, sturdily melodic pop with some rootsy shades - a cross between, say,
Billy Joel and Randy Newman."
Today, Elmore Magazine has the exclusive premiere of a live performance of "Morning Papers" from Stop Time.
Jon Regen is currently on tour in
Europe and will make his television debut on ITV's Weekend with
Aled Jones on Sunday, May 31. Previous guests on the program include Jamie Cullum, Imogen Heap,
David Gray and many more.
On August 22nd, he will perform at the Rochester International Jazz Festival in Rochester, NY alongside Diana Krall, Gary Clark Jr., The Steep Canyon Rangers and many more.
