New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Company) What The Press Are Saying?!
"you'd be well advised to climb aboard before these guys truly set sail" - Rock Sound
"Some Skeletons have grand ideas, veering between epic chugging riffs and Fleet Foxes-esque harmonies..." - KERRANG!
"There's a grassroots resurgence in actual, good, melodic hardcore and the sort of emo that makes you think of
Idlewild rather than slitting your wrists... Some Skeletons, is a great example."- Louderthanwar
Nottingham based trio, Some Skeletons have released their debut album 'Vigils', through Mountains Of Records, today.
"We're really excited to have Vigils out there and to see what people think of it" says guitarist, Aidan Blenkinsopp. "It's the product of a fun bundle of intense hard work and hopefully captures the essence of our band - melody, noise and slapdash intricacy. We hope people enjoy being immersed in the little world we've created."
Some Skeletons are an emotional, melancholic alternative rock band. Drawing influences from Idlewild, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Mew, Deftones,
Smashing Pumpkins and
Brand New. Some Skeletons have developed a sound that not only suits the individuals in the band but a sound that is big, bold, intricate and compelling. Having formed from the ashes of Thousands of Reflections in early 2011, the group, who all met at Nottingham University, are now celebrating the release of their debut album, 'Vigils'.
Originally, Some Skeletons were formed as a quartet, but due to changes in real-life circumstances, original guitar player, Adam, had to move away from Nottingham, and thus cut his involvement with the band in early 2013. The group set about going on as a three piece and started work on the new material for 'Vigils'. Songwriting was going well, but towards the end of 2013, James, the drummer, was knocked off his bike by a car and the incident was nearly fatal. It caused serious damage to his shoulder which meant he couldn't drum for several months, setting the writing process for the album back by quite some time. Thankfully, he's still around to tell the tale.
'Vigils' was recorded, mixed and produced at the University Of Lincoln by Luke Pickering.
It was mastered by Troy Glessner at Spectre Studios, Renton, Washington USA.
'Vigils' is available on CD and
Digital Download through Mountains Of Records.
