Maxwell Announces Valentine's Day Concert At Barclay Center With Nas; First New York Show In Five Years
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Maxwell will return to his native Brooklyn for a Valentine's Day concert at Barclays Center, one of two shows the R&B star has scheduled for February and his first NYC show in five years. Maxwell will also play the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, Feb. 15. Both shows are with New York's own Nas. Emeli Sande will be special guest for both shows.

The Feb. 14 show is Maxwell's first New York City concert since a 2010 sold-out Madison Square Garden appearance the New York Times called "a surefooted, playfully intelligent, supremely satisfying show." The two February dates will be the Grammy-winning singer's first U.S. concerts since 2014's Summer Soulstice Tour.

The two concerts come just weeks before the 20th anniversary of his genre-defining first album 'Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite.' His most recent album, the platinum-selling 'BLACKsummers'night,' was released in 2009, debuted at #1 and earned him a pair of Grammys. Maxwell is putting the final touches on the second album in his trilogy, 'blackSUMMERS'night,' planned for release in 2016.
Tickets for the Brooklyn and Newark concerts will go on sale Friday, Dec. 18.

About Nas: Nas. Gifted poet. Metaphor master. Street's disciple. Political firebrand. From the release of his seminal debut album 'Illmatic,' Nas remains an incendiary, outspoken and brutally candid rapper on the recently released 'Life is Good,' his tenth album and sixth to debut at the top of the Billboard 200. Over 10 albums, the rapper has never been one to play it safe. Whether it's rhyming about politics, hip hop, race, religion, other artists or personal relationships, Nas has consistently brought unparalleled and unprecedented levels of honesty to hip hop, a trait often overlooked in the genre.
