New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Indie rock band, Son & Thief released their latest single, All I Care About, a beautifully atmospheric track filled with contemplative and airy melodies, coupled with the honest reflection of a rocky relationship. The track navigates a cadence of optimism with instantly resonating guitar work to create a memorable song from the first listen. All I Care About is the lead single off Son & Thiefs upcoming EP, Where Am I To Hide? The track is now available on iTunes, and streaming on Spotify.
Son & Thief explore the ambiguous territory of love as it waxes and wanes in the new single. Acknowledging the turbulent state of a relationship with lines like, You say you love me but youve been keeping us apart, front man Shane Toriscelli is quick to look to the future as he reassures with the hook, all I care about is that we work it out. Always fascinated by the intricacies of every day minutiae, Toriscelli finds inspiration in introspective arrivals of truth. I write about what I know people see and feel in their lives, but just maybe havent realized the beauty behind it. The ludicrous nature of it all, or just arent able to express it, Toriscelli comments. Lyrically, this is my most open track to date, so it seemed fitting to make it sonically bold as well. As Son & Thiefs most fully realized work yet, All I Care About is rich with a patchwork of sonic textures recalling the melancholic tranquility and beauty of acts like
Keane and Death Cab For Cutie. Finding a perfect balance between the darkness of a clouded love and the light of the bands melodic instrumentation, the track is truly mesmerizing.
Toriscelli started Son & Thief in 2014 while attending the University of Georgia. After several jam sessions with a group of local players including Deane Lawton on lead guitar, the bands initial lineup was solidified. Since then the band has been ever changing and evolving, just like Toriscelli and the music itself. In February of 2015, Son & Thief independently released their debut EP, Cardinal, which has garnered them almost 100,000 listens on Spotify. Two tracks from the EP, Father and High and Low were also recently licensed by MTVs Teen Mom 2.
As this lead single indicates a fuller and richer sound in their composition, fans will be patiently awaiting the release of Son & Thiefs new EP Where Am I To Hide? due out this winter. Between writing and producing new work, and playing shows at a number of Athens premiere venues with national touring acts, 2016 is proving to be a busy year for the band as they look toward the future.
