Peruvian Sounds Take Over Texas At South By Southwest
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ PromPeru) Indie rockers and electro fans alike were drawn to some of Peru's most talented musicians on Wednesday for a showcase of Andean sounds at the world's largest music festival. Performing at South by SouthWest, bands took to the stage for a night of authentic rhythms in the Texan capital.

As the crowds discovered, Peruvian music is the heartbeat of the country and provides listeners with a fascinating insight in to local cultures, with regional variations reflecting the unique lifestyle and traditions of each. The stars of SXSW showed how a new generation can be inspired by their ancestral heritage, even in today's in the globalised world.

Kicking off the show, rising stars POOOW! gave their funky take on modern electro and paved the way for an evening of eclectic performances, from folk legends We The Lion to the rock sounds of MOBIVSTRIP and Mundaka. Infusing their hard rock performance with traditional Peruvian beats, Lima based favourites Los Outsaiders showcased the international outlook of Peru along with DJ Detlatron, who closed the night with a blend of tribal, cumbia, and reggaeton.

Isabella Falco, Communications Director at PromPeru, said, "This has been an incredible opportunity to showcase the musical traditions of Peru on the world stage, together with our unique culture and heritage; we look forward to building on the success of our participation in SXSW."

In a further display of Peru's creative potential, PromPeru also held a successful Panel Discussion on Saturday 11th March where three Peruvian women, all social entrepreneurs, reviewed common misconceptions about poverty and analysed how these have impacted their start-up enterprises: a dancing school for the street kids, affordable sanitation for the urban poor, and a coding school for underprivileged women.

About PromPeru: The Peruvian Commission for Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), is the official body for the promotion and sale of Peruvian products. PROMPERÚ establishes long-term business relationships with partners, customers and media in all relevant source markets.
