Low Cut Connie Release Cover Of Prince's "Controversy" Via Consequence Of Sound
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On May 19, Philadelphia's Low Cut Connie return with their fourth studio album Dirty Pictures (Part 1) available worldwide via Contender Records. The album was recorded on analog tape at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN and is now available for pre-order.

To honor and remember Prince Rogers Nelson on the one-year anniversary of his passing, the band has released their cover of his song "Controversy" which will appear on the new LP. Consequence of Sound premiered the song and said, "It's no easy feat covering someone like Prince, but you can tell Low Cut Connie are enjoying honoring the fallen icon with their version, and that makes it all the more fun to listen to."

"Prince is my hero, and down here on Earth, we all still feel the loss. He freed our bodies and minds...he married outrageous fun with an openness of spirit like no other artist before or since...in his world we were all valued, all sexy, all stars," says frontman Adam Weiner. "Our country is fracturing and full of hostility...we need Prince's words so badly, to open up the channels and get the juices flowing 'People call me rude / I wish we all were nude / I wish there was no black and white / I wish there were no rules.' We have sung Prince's words over the last year and disarmed even the most hostile and depressed crowds. It's an honor to be able to put our little version of 'Controversy' out to the world."

Recently, Low Cut Connie released the first single off the album "Revolution Rock n Roll," Rolling Stone featured the song in their Playlist feature, saying "If the New York Dolls had done a session with Jerry Lee Lewis, it'd sound a lot like the Philadelphia rockers' new one - a political anthem drunkenly teetering on platform heels." The song is currently in the top 100 on the AAA radio charts.

The band recently wrapped up a run of more than 8 shows at SXSW 2017 and have announced a massive US Tour. Rolling Stone's David Fricke named the band one of his favorites of 2017 and called them "...a roaring quintet that sounds as loud and full as the early E Street Band, are absolutely contemporary in their drive to old-school joy."

Low Cut Connis is Adam Weiner (piano, lead vocals), James Everhart (lead guitar), Will Donnelly (rhythm guitar), Larry Scotton (drums), and Lucas Rinz (bass).

The band, who have for the past 5 years schlepped a 400 pound piano named Shondra around the country, was recently called "the essence of what rock n roll should be" by Greg Kot and the New York Times has said "their live show is a phenomenon." In 2015, President Barack Obama chose their anthem of low-brow American life "Boozophilia" for his Spotify Playlist and met with Weiner at the White House in 2016.
The band has recently announced a nationwide tour in support of the forthcoming album. Find a full list of tour dates below.
