New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Beba is a blend of Moroccan and Canadian pop influences, an album of songs written by two songwriters on opposite sides of the planet. Amine Masror from El Jadida, Morocco found Barry Muir from Vancouver, Canada through social media via mutual connections from Nashville's Songwriter's Association.
Twenty-one years old, Armine, an openly gay Muslim unafraid of his sexuality has always used music to express himself. He emailed lyrics for two songs, Power of Love and Prayer to Barry, who says "right away I got goose bumps, pulled out my guitar and the songs wrote themselves literally in minutes".
The songwriting sessions continued and the resulting album tracks are a blend of two perspectives on life's trials, tribulations, faith and hope.
"We're total opposites" Barry explains. "Maybe that's why these songs just rolled out as fast I could read them. I kept the production on the record very simple, to make the lyrics come through. I just really wanted everyone to notice them. If you listen carefully to how the stories in the songs develop, it's very interesting. Amine is a brilliant lyricist".
