10 New Songs Added To Summer Playlist Only On Amazon Music - Songs Of Summer (Stream Foxygen Covering Jessica Pratt)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Amazon Music updates last year's Amazon Original playlist, Songs of Summer, with 10 new tracks, including newly-recorded songs from indie darlings Foxygen, UK psych upstarts Temples, Chicago garage rockers Twin Peaks, and genre-defying singer-songwriter EMA. Starting today, these new recordings and more are available for streaming exclusively through Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music at www.amazon.com/songsofsummer.

Los Angeles-based Foxygen contribute a take on Jessica Pratt's "Own Your Own Love Again," the band's first-ever commercially released cover. Of their interpretation, the band notes, "while her version is acoustic, we decided to employ Phil Spector's Wall of Sound technique to make the song sound great coming out of the speakers at your next summer barbeque."

EMA, an iconoclastic artist known for her culturally aware and at times intensely political music, reflects a moodier side of the season with her hazy reading of the oft-covered classic, "The Crying Game." EMA says of the song, "while this song doesn't explicitly mention summer, it seems like the sort of song that could only exist on a languid summer night, with a large August moon overhead. The briefness of the romances in the lyrics suggests a summer flame that is about to painfully burn out."

Likewise, Nada Surf's Matthew Caws, with some support from James McNew of Yo La Tengo on bass, delivers a solo performance of his original composition "Sleeping Summer," and sings of summer as a state of mind not necessarily bound to the calendar. Of the new song, Caws says "In the same way that I think we are all the ages we've ever been (I'm still ten, I'm still thirty-five, etc.), I think all the seasons are with us too, they can resonate all year round. I tried to get at that in this song."
Other new tracks include a range of emerging artists like Hand Habits, Sneaks, and Summer Twins.
