MTV Video Music Awards 2017: Full Winners List

New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards were about performances and powerful words. Kendrick Lamar kicked off the show with a mini-medley of his songs. The fiery set included a man totally engulfed in flames. Lamar went into the evening with eight nominations, followed by Katy Perry and The Weeknd tied with five nominations each.

Nicki Minaj stunned in a pink latex bodysuit while "Raking It Up" alongside Yo Gotti. Fellow rapstress Cardi B wowed in a white pantsuit with cone bra before changing into a sparkly outfit for her pre-show performance.

Six-time winner Kendrick Lamar rocked braids and a clean pair of Cortez sneakers while snapping pics with DJ Khaled and his son Asahd. Chance the Rapper channeled Big Bird in a fuzzy yellow sweater, while Lil Mama brought an actual bird in a cage.

Teyana Taylor put her six-pack abs on display as she channeled Janet Jackson's 1995 VMA look, rocking a white midriff-baring top that read "Underrated" on the back, like Janet's infamous "Pervert 2" tee. The G.O.O.D. Music songstress also went on to win her first VMA for Best Choreography for "Fade."

Couples also ruled the carpet. 21 Savage and Amber Rose weren't afraid to show PDA, kissing and holding hands, while Gucci Mane and his fiancée Keyshia Ka'oir were dripping in swag.

Susan Bro, whose daughter Heather Heyer was killed during the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, took the stage at the VMAs on Sunday to present the award for "Best Fight Against the System.
