Canadian Rocker John-Angus MacDonald Joins Prism Sound's Latest Mic To Monitor Seminar Tour
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) John-Angus MacDonald, lead guitarist of Canadian band The Trews, will be the guest speaker at Prism Sound's Mic To Monitor seminar event in Montreal, which takes place at Musitechnic on October 25th 2017.

The Trews have performed over 1,500 live shows worldwide and have 17 Top 10 Canadian Rock Radio singles to their credit, including Beautiful and Tragic from their current album Time Capsule. MacDonald has co-produced three of the band's albums; Hope & Ruin, Thank You and I'm Sorry and the 2014 self-titled album The Trews. His other producer credits include The Glorious Sons' 2014 JUNO Award nominated album The Union, which resulted in three Canadian Rock Radio Top 10 singles.

"After a very successful Mic To Monitor event in Toronto last year, we are thrilled to be returning to Canada and delighted that John-Angus is joining us as guest speaker in Montreal," says Prism Sounds Sales and Marketing Manager, Jody Thorne. "As an artist and producer, he brings an entirely new dimension to our seminar and we look forward to hearing about his experiences in the recording studio - from both side of the desk."

Prism Sound's Montreal Mic To Monitor event will complete a series of five seminars in the US and Canada, the first of which takes place at Drexel University, Philadelphia, on October 16th 2017. This event and the second - on October 20th at the City College of New York - bookend the 143rd AES Convention in New York, at which Prism Sound will have a booth (535).

The speaker for the Philadelphia and New York seminars is Oscar and Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Robert L Smith, a man who has worked with numerous top artists including Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, U2, David Bowie, the Bee Gees, Michael Bublé, and Lady Gaga. Now the owner of Defy Recordings, Smith has worked at many top studios during his long career and is willing to share his experiences, tips and knowledge with Mic To Monitor attendees.

For Prism Sound's Boston Mic To Monitor event, which takes place at Future Studios on October 23rd, the guest speaker will be top mastering engineer and President of M-Works, Jonathan Wyner. During a career spanning nearly 30 years, Wyner has mastered more than 6000 CDs covering every musical genre and all kinds of artists including James Taylor, Kiri Te Kanawa, David Bowie, Aimee Mann, Tiny Tim and Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

Prism Sound will also host a Mic To Monitor seminar at Lyndon State University, Lyndonville, on October 24th and on this occasion the guest speaker will be Los Angeles-based recording engineer and Berklee College of Music graduate Vanessa Parr. Parr's career highlights include working with a variety of prestigious and Grammy award-winning artists such as T Bone Burnett, Lucinda Williams, Larry Klein, the Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Smashing Pumpkins, and Elton John. She has also worked extensively on many film and television scores including Across the Universe, Nashville, Crazy Heart, Mad Men, and The Help.

Now well established as must-attend international events, Prism Sound's Mic To Monitor seminars provide a great opportunity for everyone involved in music recording - from students and hobbyists through to audio professionals - to learn from experts in the field. The seminars answer important questions about technique, helping attendees to identify what makes great music great. They also provide a networking opportunity and allow those involved in music recording to discuss new technology with high end audio equipment manufacturers.

For its US and Canadian Autumn dates, Prism Sound is working with partners such as SADiE, GIK Acoustics, RØDE Microphones and Genelec, all of which will give presentations on recording techniques, audio hardware design and how to get the best from your studio. Everyone attending these free seminars will be automatically entered into a draw, which features $6,500 worth of prizes donated by the participating manufacturers.
