Shawn Mendes Launches Crowdrise Campaign With $100,000 Donation And Partners With Red Cross To Raise Money For Mexico Earthquake Relief
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes announced that he is partnering with Red Cross to raise money and bring awareness to those in need after a devastating earthquake hit Mexico on Tuesday, September 19. The campaign on CrowdRise, part of GoFundMe, is raising funds for immediate and urgent relief efforts in Mexico. The singer was in Mexico City during the quake preparing for his show on September 20, which was cancelled due to the state of emergency and out of respect for the ongoing relief efforts.

"After seeing the impact of the damage firsthand in Mexico, I wanted to find any way I could to help raise funds," said Mendes. "So we reached out to the Red Cross and partnered with them to set up a way to help those affected by the earthquake."

Along with AG Artists, Shawn and his team have together donated $100,000 to start the fundraiser and are hoping others will follow. "I am sending my prayers and love to everyone dealing with the after effects of the earthquake."

The funds raised will be going directly to disaster relief in Mexico. The American Red Cross is working directly with the Mexican Red Cross to determine the best allocation of these funds. This includes supporting requests for the deployment of staff, volunteers and supplies and any other requests as needed.
