Spaceface Unlock A Portal To Another Dimension With New 360° Video For "Sun Kids" (Created By Vinyl Williams)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Memphis psych-rock outfit Spaceface does not do anything half-assed. Taking cues from their close friends The Flaming Lips, of which Spaceface's lead singer Jake Ingalls is a touring member, the band tends to 'go big' rather than 'go home' when it comes to the presentation of their music. Every aspect of their live performance is carefully designed with the intention of dazzling audiences on both a visual and sonic level, and this detail oriented approach crosses over into everything that they create and present to their fans. Spaceface wears their psych-rock badge with pride, and never has their affinity for dreamy psychedelia been more apparent than in their new 360° video for "Sun Kids" which premiered via Happy Mag earlier this week.

The video, which was created by the one and only Vinyl Williams, transports viewers to a heavenly dimension where the rules that govern time and space melt away and all that remains is a flowing continuum of otherworldly beauty. Musically, "Sun Kids" - which is the title track off of Spaceface's debut full-length album - is the perfect companion for Williams' dreamy visuals and paradisiacal landscapes. Bolstered by the harmonious and angelic vocals of Mikaela Davis and flourishes of tastefully placed harp, "Sun Kids" carries the listener up into the clouds from which it was born and leaves you suspended between earth and sky. In regards to the meaning behind the video, Williams offered the following:

"Sun Kids is a 360º experience that impresses upon the space outside of the human cognitive mechanism. These images come from a history of scientists, alchemists, and hermeticists such as Francis Bacon, Bruce Rimell, Pablo Amaringo, Paul Laffoley and their visions of a harmonious land in-between space and time. The enchantingly mysterious and wondrous wellspring of the subconscious appear to take on a simultaneity of visionary expression among many artists, which leads to metaphorical states where an individual is exposed to information that disagrees with their perception of reality, coined the "Chapel perilous". Certain objects in the video quintessentialize this concept, such as the "Klein bottle" - a hyperbolic shape that contains an entrance & exit in the same space, illuminating its utter paradox. As the viewer travels throughout the shape, it is intended that this acts as the rare representational occasion of experiencing the process of transmutation first hand."

The 360º aspect of the video allows viewers full immersion and encourages exploration of the unique world that Williams has created. Because let's face it, in this day and age it simply isn't enough to just make a video. Nowadays everything demands interactivity and in our current climate of nearly non-existent attention spans, the utilization of modern technology is a must. Also, did I mention that Spaceface doesn't do anything half-assed? Aligning with the release of this new video, Spaceface also recently announced a newly inked distribution deal with the Baltimore, MD based indie label Friends Records, as well as a first time appearance at Desert Daze in Joshua Tree, CA! Sun Kids was released on vinyl this summer and can be purchased through the Friends Records site right HERE. Snag a copy for yourself and be sure to catch the band live during their west coast tour!

Biography: Spaceface is a six piece psychedelic garage-rock band hailing from Memphis, TN. Fronted by singer-songwriter Jake Ingalls, a current member of the seminal rock band The Flaming Lips. Spaceface fuses 60 and 70's era psychedelia with the synth heavy pulses and textures of modern day electronic music. With an acid flashback inducing light show to add to their performance arsenal, the band released their highly anticipated, debut album Sun Kids earlier this year.

"Sun Kids" is hazy, psychedelic pop music, elegantly composed. It may be these tumultuous times, and the fact that so much protest music was being made during periods of similar unrest, like the '60s, that when Ingalls and band sing about "children of the sun" it seems they're making political and social commentary. Yet, even while rock 'n' roll has always confronted injustice, it's also a form of escapism from ugly realities. As Spaceface's soundscapes and extended dreamy harmonies float around your headphones, it's easy to forget the continuing winter weather or the fact that it's a truly bizarre 2017 so far. - KEXP, featured song of the day
