BBC One And BBC Music Announce Sam Smith At The BBC
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) BBC Music today announces a world-exclusive hour-long entertainment show Sam Smith At The BBC, for BBC One this autumn, presented by Fearne Cotton.
Oscar and Grammy Award-winning Sam Smith will perform new tracks from his eagerly awaited new album and classic tracks, accompanied by his band and the BBC Concert Orchestra, as well as talking about his career, music and his life to date.

The one-off 60-minute special from BBC Studios, filmed in front of a live studio audience, will be broadcast in November and will include songs Sam has never previously performed before for a TV audience.
Sam says: "I'm so honoured and thankful to the BBC for giving me this opportunity to showcase some of my new music from my album in this amazing, intimate setting. I can't wait to sing some old songs and have a big old sing along with everyone."

Sam has amassed an array of prestigious accolades including a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Song (Writing's On The Wall), four Grammys, three BRIT Awards, six Mobo Awards and two Guinness World Records. Sam's multi-platinum selling album In The Lonely Hour has sold over 12.4m copies globally, breaking records in America as the highest first week sales for a UK male artist's debut album. His new single Too Good At Goodbyes went to number one in its first week making it his sixth number one single in the UK.

Fearne says: "As I've adored Sam's voice since he performed on Radio 1's Live Lounge in 2015, I jumped at the chance to present this show. I can't wait to see him again, watch him perform new and old tracks and chat to him about his music and life."

Sam Smith At The BBC follows in the footsteps of Adele At The BBC and Michael Bublé At The BBC, both BBC Studios productions.

Broadcast in November 2015, Adele At The BBC, presented by Graham Norton, was nominated for Best Entertainment Programme at the Bafta Awards. A sketch within the programme, which saw Adele impersonate herself, broke the BBC YouTube channel record by gaining over 60 million views. Harry Styles At The BBC will be broadcast in November on BBC One.

Bob Shennan, Director of BBC Radio and Music says: "Placing music centre stage on television remains one of BBC Music's aims as supporting a range of burgeoning and established acts, and I'm very happy that we're able to bring Sam to BBC One for what promises to be a very special show."

Guy Freeman, Editor, Special Events and Formats, BBC Studios says: "I'm delighted that Sam is the next superstar in this series. These shows create a world in which artists like Sam feel incredibly comfortable and can simply have fun and reveal more of themselves to viewers than is ever normally possible. It promises to be a great hour in the company of an outstanding performer."

BBC Worldwide is the international distributor for the title.
The recording will take place on Tuesday 17 October. Registration to apply for tickets to be in the audience is open from 11am on Tuesday 3 October to 11pm on Thursday 5 October.

Sam Smith At The BBC is a BBC Studios production, executive produced by Anouk Fontaine and edited by Guy Freeman, Editor, Special Events and Formats. The programme was commissioned by Jan Younghusband, Head of Commissioning, Music Television.

BBC Music will present a feast of television programming this autumn. BBC Music has recently announced a brand new six-part music series coming to BBC One, produced by the award-winning independent production company Fulwell 73. Last month, BBC Music brought live coverage of The Mercury Prize on BBC Four and BBC Radio 6 Music. BBC Studios presented Later 25 at the Royal Albert Hall, a special edition of Jools Holland's show celebrating 25 years on BBC Two last month.
