New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, the 9th of October would have been John Lennon's 77th birthday and to mark the occasion multi-instrumentalist / singer / songwriter
Craig Payne has released a tribute to the man himself…
'Soul Searching' is the title track to Craig's new album and was written as a tribute to
John Lennon 37 years-ago - I guess some things are worth waiting for.
"It seems more positive to release the song on John's birthday rather than mark the day of his untimely death as it's quite a positive song":
Craig said recently when mixing down the final version.
Many of the albums songs have a "Beatle-esque" feel and sound to them which speaks volumes for the influence
John Lennon and the
Beatles had on the world of music;
Craig grew up listening to the
Beatles a lot and it's natural that some of the sound would be reflected in Craig's music in general.
Tracks that stand out are 'Time Won't Stand Still' which has a solid piano line grinding though the entire song, "
Still In Love With You" featuring a real "Lennon / McCartney" structure complete with good old 1964 two part vocal harmonies and chords that glide easily around two keys… "A
Dizzy Day's Night" is a tongue in cheek play on words with a nice
George Harrison influenced twin slide guitar line that goes well with the theme of the album. Six other tracks support the album's concept really well offering some diverse sounds from country to '60s rock and roll…
'Soul Searching',the album, goes live today the 9th October and is available worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and streaming exclusively on Spotify...
