Rosanne Cash will perform at the Rose Theatre in New York City. The concert is part of Lincoln Center's acclaimed American Songbook series, which just announced its 19th season earlier this week. Tickets for
Friends of Lincoln Center go on sale November 6 and to the general public beginning November 13. They may be purchased online at AmericanSongbook.org, via CenterCharge at 212.721.6500, and at the Alice Tully Hall and
David Geffen Hall Box Offices.
Cash was honored along with The Neville Brothers and
Roy Orbison at the 2017 Austin City Limits Hall of Fame Induction & Celebration, which took place last week. Elvis Costello, Ry Cooder and
Neko Case paid tribute to Cash and performed a selection of her songs. Musical highlights from the ceremony will be broadcast in a special New Year's Eve episode of "Austin City Limits" as part of the program's Season 43.
2018 will be Cash's second year as Resident Artistic
Director of SFJAZZ. In 2017, she played four sold-out shows with
Emmylou Harris and
Lucinda Williams at San Francisco's Miner Auditorium. Tickets for her May 3-6, 2018 run with Ry Cooder are already sold out. At the request of Cooder, they will be performing her father's songs.
Cash and Kris Kristofferson headlined the closing concert of the inaugural
Johnny Cash Heritage Festival. Held in the cotton fields surrounding her father's recently restored boyhood home at the Dyess Colony - a
New Deal era agricultural resettlement colony - it marked the culmination of six years of historic preservation work with Arkansas
State University.
She has begun recording a new album of original songs, working with producer Tucker Martine and longtime collaborator John Leventhal. Cash and Leventhal are also writing the music and lyrics for a new musical.
Her artistic partnership with Carnegie Hall continues with The American Byways series. Curated by Cash, the December 2 concert will bring together two young performers -singer/songwriter Parker Millsap and singer/fiddler Sara Watkins - to shine a new light on timeless American music. For the February 3 performance, Cash has put together a double bill of deep-rooted blues, gospel and soul traditions featuring singer/songwriter Ruthie Foster and the North Mississippi Allstars. Cash's 2015-2016 Carnegie Hall Perspectives series was dedicated to Southern
Roots music.
Cash recorded two classic folk songs - "The Parting Glass" and "Barbara Allen" - for Big Bend Killing: The Appalachian Ballad Tradition. Released earlier this month, the album benefits the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park. Her cover of Louis Jordan's "May Ev'ry Day Be Christmas" appears on Holidays Rule Volume 2 (Capitol Records), which is available HERE. Cash was featured along with John Paul White on Rodney Crowell's "It Ain't Over Yet," which won Song of The Year at the 2017 Americana Honors and Awards.
One of the country's preeminent singer/songwriters, Cash has released 15 albums. She won her first GRAMMY® Award for 1985's "I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me." Her 2014 album, The River & The Thread, won a GRAMMY for Best Americana Album while the song "A Feather's Not A Bird," which she co-wrote with John Leventhal, won for both Best American
Roots Performance and Best American
Roots Song. Hailed by Newsweek as "the work of a lifetime," it debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Folk Albums chart and came in at No. 1 on the Americana Top 100 Albums of the Year chart, which is compiled by the Americana
Music Association.
Cash has also authored four books, including the best-selling memoir Composed. She has contributed essays to two recently-published books: In Their Lives: Great Writers on Great
Beatles Songs (Blue Rider Press/Penguin Books) and Woman Walk The Line: How The Women In Country
Music Changed Our Lives (University of
Texas Press).
