Couple Amy & Jim Dodson Reimagines Classic Christmas Song

New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Couple Amy and Jim Dodson have rewritten the classic Christmas song, The 12 Days of Christmas to honor New Mexico—the state they fell in love with and got married in.

The song whose memorable verses are filled with New Mexican specific imagery: green chile cheeseburgers, speedy roadrunners, wandering weeds-a-tumblin' and red pepper ristras is fun and educational—originally written for their families who live far away and to teach their grandchildren about the state and the southwest.

"The kids think it's fun and cute, and with each visit whether we meet in Taos or Santa Fe, they become more aware of how unique New Mexico is: how the landscape is so vast, the adobe buildings are made of earth, and how amazing green chile cheeseburgers are," said Jim.

This year, the Dodson's have created an official "New Mexico Twelve Days of Christmas" website offering merchandise inspired by the song. Visit: www.newmexicotwelvedaysofchristmas.com to select gifts from an assortment of youth and adult apparel and coffee mugs, all designed around the song's theme. 10% of the web site sales net profits will be donated to the New Mexico Salvation Army- an organization the couple is honored to support. The New Mexico Twelve Days of Christmas song, which Amy and Jim recorded last year, was shared on their Facebook page in 2016 and reached over 130,000 people. "When we put it on Facebook and families started sharing it as their Christmas greeting we were over-the-moon delighted," said Amy. This year they hope to reach even more New Mexicans, New Mexico-lovers and anyone who shares their affinity for Christmas in the Southwest.
