The Rock And Roll Playhouse Announces Inaugural Shows In Philadelphia At The Ardmore Music Hall
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "well-rounded learning experience for parents and kids" - WHERE IN New York
"The kids are having so much fun they don't realize how much they are learning." - Brooklyn Family Magazine
"...one jam packed hour of fun." - Mommy Nearest
The Rock and Roll Playhouse and Philadelphia's Ardmore Music Hall have announced their first ever run of "Rock & Roll For Kids" family concerts. The three Ardmore Music Hall shows, which will feature the music of the Beatles, the Grateful Dead and Phish, are part of the Rock and Roll Playhouse's ninth season. Additional shows at New York's Brooklyn Bowl, The Capitol Theatre, and Industry City will be announced shortly.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse is a weekly children's music workshop-series that creates "a space within which they can discover new comfort zones with and around music" (WHERE IN New York). Created by entrepreneur and owner of The Capitol Theatre and Brooklyn Bowl, Peter Shapiro, and Amy Striem, a certified early childhood and elementary teacher, The Rock and Roll Playhouse uses music to educate children and explore their creativity. Since it's founding in 2013, the Rock and Roll Playhouse has hosted 400 concerts exploring the music of different decades and genres, from David Bowie to Bob Marley to the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Elton John.

Past special guests Questlove, Phil Lesh, Joe Russo, Ross James, DJ Cochon De Lait, Alyssa Cowitt, The Terrapin Family Band, Stella Blues Band, and StevenSteven (Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips and Steve Burns, original host of Blues Clues) have all joined the party in New York to perform for, educate, and inspire young music fans.

The idea for The Playhouse came to Shapiro, a parent of two young children, after he discovered first-hand a lack of regular programming in New York City that combined his passion for live music and his family. He collaborated with Striem, then an administrator at his daughter's nursery school, to help fill this void that they felt many other parents also shared. Using the songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history, The Rock and Roll Playhouse offers its core audience of three to eight-year-olds games, movement, stories, and an opportunity to rock out. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child's lifelong journey with live music and rock 'n' roll.

The New York Observer raves that the family-friendly series is, "...quite literally fun for all ages."

About Ardmore Music Hall:
The Ardmore Music Hall has established itself as a premiere landing spot for many renowned, local and national touring musical acts. Due to its geographic location on the Main Line, close proximity to the City of Philadelphia, and an upcoming calendar full of a diverse range of artists, AMH draws from virtually every demographic group in the greater Philadelphia area.

The room holds as much history as any local venue in Philadelphia or the surrounding suburbs, known through the years as 23 East Cabaret (1980-1994), Brownies 23 East (1995-2012) and as of 2013, The Ardmore Music Hall. The legendary 23 East Cabaret lived within the same walls, and hosted an impressive array of artists from The Dave Matthews Band, to The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Ramones, Blues Traveler, Hootie & The Blowfish, Phish, The Hooters, Joan Osborne and so many more. From 1996 to 2009, although the room became primarily a cover band venue, Brownies 23 East hosted national attractions such as Cheap Trick, Los Lobos, The Cherry Poppin Daddys, Merle Saunders, Vince Welnick, Melvin Seals, Steve Kimock, New Riders of The Purple Sage and more.

AMH features include a state-of-the-art sound system, a wide dance space perfect for an excited dance party, a full bar with 21 craft beers on draught, a low & intimate stage, optional seating with great sight lines, and a balcony viewing area for larger events.
